Support the Crimestoppers campaign: Illegal tobacco fuels organised crime

Illegal tobacco may seem like a cheap bargain, but it often funds serious organised crime, including drug dealing, people trafficking and money laundering. These products are commonly smuggled or counterfeit, sold without proper safety checks, and often supplied in ways designed to avoid detection.

The illegal tobacco trade also harms local communities. It undercuts honest businesses, makes it easier for young people to start smoking, and targets some of the most vulnerable communities.

Trading Standards Wales works closely with partners, including HMRC and Crimestoppers, to tackle the supply of illegal tobacco. However, community information plays a vital role in identifying those responsible.

If you suspect illegal tobacco is being sold in your area, you can report it anonymously to Crimestoppers by calling 0800 555 111 or visiting the Crimestoppers website: Crimestoppers-uk.org

By sharing information, you can help protect communities and disrupt organised crime networks.
